Kevin Didon's approach to the famous 3 stage hill. This thing is steep with a 12 inch step.
Here's a front view. Kevin made a couple of attempts. He almost got the front tire up the step.
The enterence to the Wild Life Managment area is a big mud pit. Kevin takes it easy.
He makes it no probelm.
Chris and Jennelle Kelley are next...
Chris was just playing around with this Disco
And he found a new line too.
Next up, Nicholas Rawlings with his D110 diesel. Will he need that snokel?
I think not!
Nice and easy
Then came Tim Chestnut, our new friend for OK city, in a Range Rover 4.0
Treading a little water here.
and out with a splash.
Yes, that is an Infiniti QX4 with paper tags. Driven by Roland's Brother-in-law John.
first mud puddle for this one!
no problems for them either.
Roland Rios us next...
making a little splash.
Nothing a little water can't take care of.
Last, but not least, Darrell Oliver and his attempt to cover the group in mud.
On to Day two, starting at the camp site..
We setup camp in the wilderness the night before.
We were all working on a little breakfast in the morning. Let's just say no one went hungy on this trip.
Kevin is trying to thaw him self out after spending the night in the cool wilderness. The low was in the 30's.
We were lucky enough to find a path into the woods off from a less traveled forestry road.
We finally got started with the trail running climbing up the bus line trail
Chris climbs this slab with no issue.
Nicholas's D110 though it was on the highway.
Roland gets ready.
Tim shows us what the Range Rover 4.0 is made of.
Darrel is just having fun.
Tim checking out some off camber stuff.
And down the other side.
Darrel checking the articulation.
Here's a good view of the trail. Look through the valley, and you will see the trail on the other side.
Nicholas and the D110 in it's element.
I think he really enjoyed this part of the trip.
Roland picking his way up.
Darrell picking the line to save the running boards.
Darrell also gave the people of South Texas a ride in his trailer hitch.
Look at all those rocks ahead.
Next we all came down on survey line trail. That first turn is a little tricky.
You would thinkthis is level ground. Tim is pointed down hill at about 20 degrees.
Chris Kelley getting ready to test his articulation.
The D110 has a little advantage on this down hill stuff.
First gear on the stick shift is almost to slow.
Here is the whole group half way down.
On the way out we got one last chance to play in the water. Tim and his 4.0
Darrell and his SII Discovery
Chris Kelley trying to soak the photographer.
Nicholas and the D110 Diesel Right Hand Drive.
Roland and his SII Discovery
And Kevin Didion with his Range Rover Classic. THE END!!!
